Late Bloomer Gardens is having an early New Hampshire Spring! The seedling delphiniums from last spring are hardy and growing beautifully in their front row raised beds.
Our new peonies are a little disappointing, but our source in Long Island is communicating with us and are hopeful it is just a "peony quirk" as it does usually take three years before they bloom. This is not a business for anyone who is not patient and hopeful! I never thought I'd be able to claim those words to describe myself, but here I am happily waiting and hoping.
Lilies are in BLOOM and in MAGNIFICANT colors! We are pleased to continue our business relationship with On the Vine Marketplace in Exeter. We are also planning to do guest appearances at local Farmer's Markets and perhaps some roadside sales.
Our first year produced: Tulips, Lilies, Zinnias, Calla Lilies, Dahlias, Delphinium, and Lisianthus. Some were for show, some for sale. We partnered up with some local specialty stores and sold a lot through their venues; tried our hand at road side sales. Overall, a good start. Take a look to see some of the end results by clicking on "Our Farm" photo gallery.
For our second year of our young production operation, we seem to be on schedule and looking forward to some warm days that will really kick things into high gear.
I hope all the unusual vases and new varieties of flowers, both annual and perennial, and hopefully the grasses and woody ornamentals that we are aniticipating will create the bouquets and bunches that discerning flower lovers will enjoy this year.
Stay tuned for more updates and the progress on the greens and peeks of color coming to our fields.
